Comedian, K. Todd Weatherill
Todd enjoyed a successful High school career with an All-State award in football, becoming the Homecoming King, and graduated in 1984. Todd attended the University of Northern Colorado on a football scholarship, was active in student government, and ran the university newspaper. Todd finally graduated college eight years after starting, earning his BS degree in Business Marketing at Metro State in Denver. During late college, Todd picked up a wakeboard and started landing exceptional tricks training through a local pro-shop in Denver called Tommy’s Slalom Shop. Tommy Phillips (the owner) turned Todd on to the “extreme-sports” industry through wakeboarding and Todd was picked up by Team O’Brien and offered a job in Texas. In 1992, Todd Moved to Texas after graduating from college. Both in Colorado and Texas, Todd became one of the first Pro-Wakeboarders and started organizing the new sport. In 1992, Todd became the First President of the World Wakeboard Association and enjoyed traveling the waterski-pro tour and putting on contests with his best friend Jimmy Redmon (guru of wakeboard design). During this time, Todd became the area-rep for O’Brien Waterskis, and O’Neill Wetsuits, and was featured in annual films by wakeboard and surf companies. At a pro-event in Shreveport Louisiana (sitting in the announcer’s stand with a blown-out knee), Todd was handed a mic and started to talk and announce the event. An ESPN representative was on-site that day and liked what he heard in Todd. He asked Todd to do a test-shoot, selling a wetsuit. Right up Todd’s alley, he laid it on thick, and never heard back from that guy. Shortly after, Todd was offered a job announcing live-site events for the Waterski Pro-tour, Van’s Triple Crown, and international events in Wakeboard and Waterskiing. About Two years later, in 1996, Todd was contacted by that same ESPN rep that tested him at that event in Shreveport. ESPN was starting the X-Games. They wanted Todd to be an analyst and Sport-Host. Todd accepted and within two-years: was the host and analyst at not only Wakeboard X-Games, but host and analyst for the Wakeboard Pro-tour, X-Games events and qualifiers all over the world, and hosting shows for ESPN, ABC, Disney, FOX, Fuel TV, Fusion TV, and now the Outdoor Life Network. During all this professional growth, Todd also took a liking to stand-up comedy, writing, and the voice-over industry. With the network credits Todd had accumulated, he found it very easy to sell his voice all over the world. Now Todd enjoys a very fulfilling life voicing everything from Frosted Flakes commercials to animation and video game projects. Todd has also found a home in comedy. His single biggest personal goal was to do stand-up. He is now doing just that, and his popularity is gaining momentum. Todd is going on tour in May from California to Texas and back. Look for Todd now on the Outdoor Life Network’s Vortec Power Hour, or as a regular in the Cathy Lewis Show at the World Famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Todd has a beautiful wife named Lisa, and three wonderful and very blue-eyed/red-headed daughters. Kia is 5, Nalu is 4, and Kala is 5-months old. They are the center of Todd’s very exceptional and gifted life. |
